Personya ("we", "app", or "service") takes your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Personya mobile app and website (personya.app), and how we use and protect that information.

You can use the app as a guest without creating an account. In that case, we only store an anonymous device identifier.
When you use Time Capsule, we store your text, uploaded images and videos, opening date, time zone, and notification choices. We remove GPS, device, and EXIF metadata from uploaded images where reasonably possible.

Personya uses OpenAI language models to power conversations with characters. Messages you send are transmitted to OpenAI to generate responses. In this process:
Private Time Capsule content is not sent to an AI model unless you provide separate, optional AI consent.

“Only Me” Time Capsules are not shown to other users or placed in a public publishing review queue. Private capsules are not routinely reviewed by people. Limited, logged access by authorized personnel may occur for a security incident, technical necessity, or valid legal obligation. Because client-side end-to-end encryption is not used, we do not promise that “nobody, including Personya, can ever access the content.”
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your data, including HTTPS encryption, secure server infrastructure, and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
Time Capsule content remains in private storage until you delete the capsule or your account. Deletion removes it from active systems. Backup copies may remain, with restricted access, only for disaster recovery and security until the ordinary backup rotation is completed; they are not restored to the normal service during that period.

Personya is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete that information promptly.
